Jewell Elsik

Jewell Elsik was born in Salado, TX and graduated from Scott and White Nursing School in Temple, Texas.  She originally came to the Houston area to the Aldine School District where she was Aldine’s first nurse and her husband was superintendent.

In 1962, she became the first nurse for the Alief School District when there were only 240 students in 1 building. As the district grew and more schools and nurses were added, she became Director of Nurses until she retired in 1976.

Ms. Elsik passed May 29, 2006 after a brief illness at the age of 95. The Alief nurses feel honored to have a school named for such a notable person.
