My name is Lynette Miller, and I am the principal at Hastings High School. I have been a proud member of the Alief family for more than 27 years. Before becoming a principal, I taught Business Education and Dance and have served as the Drill Team Director for Hastings Golden Brigade, and I had the pleasure of opening Doc Taylor HS as the director for the Crimson Cadettes. I have also served as Assistant Principal at Albright Middle School and O'Donnell Middle School before transitioning to Elsik High School as the Associate Principal of Instruction and then came back home to Hastings HS as the Coordinating Principal for the past 7 years. GOOOO BEARS! I graduated from Sam Houston State University, where I obtained my Bachelors degree in Business Education and Dance. I also hold a masters in Educational Leadership from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. I am proud to serve the community of Alief and the families of Hastings High School where we strive to give every student an exemplary education and lead the way for each child to excel after high school. My name is Vicki Washington and I have been a proud member of the Alief family going on 20 years. I have been the Assistant Principal at Hastings NGC for 5 years. Before becoming an AP, I taught English and PE while coaching volleyball, basketball, track and soccer at Albright Middle School. I've also served as an Action Based Learning (ABL) professional learning facilitator in the district.
I graduated from the University of Houston, where I obtained my bachelor's degree in Exercise Science. I also hold a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from U of H and another master's in Educational Leadership from Prairie View A&M University.
I look forward to learning and growing in my new role, and I am excited to continue my leadership journey as a Hastings Bear.

Demetra Page- Assistant Principal (A-CAS)
My name is Demetra Page, and I am an Assistant Principal at Alief Hastings High School. I have been a proud member of the Alief family since July 2023. Before becoming a principal, I served in HISD and Alvin ISD as an English teacher and testing coordinator. Returning back to HISD in 2019, I served as an Assistant Principal for four years at Lawson Middle School. I graduated from Lindenwood University, where I obtained my Bachelors in Secondary Education, English. I also hold a Masters in Educational Leadership from Capella University. I am a servant leader ready to partner with the teachers, students, community members to move the academic needle and continue to build Alief Hastings High School culture and pride. I have an all-in attitude and transformative leadership style that resonates with the ideal that great learning experiences create life-long learners. Samantha Chandler- Assistant Principal (CAT- GONZALEZ)
My name is Samantha Chandler, and I am the Assistant Principal of Accountability at Hastings High School. I have been a proud member of the Alief family for over 27 years and an assistant principal at Hastings for over 8 years. I graduated from the University of Houston, where I obtained my Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. I also hold a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Houston and a Masters of Arts in Counseling from Prairie View A&M University. My goal as a campus leader is to prepare students for a life of learning, growth, and purpose by providing a foundation for an impactful future.
Veronica Owens- Assistant Principal (GOO-LU)
My name is Veronica Owens, and I am an Assistant Principal at Alief Hastings High School. I have 28 years of educator experience, 18 of which I have proudly served in Alief ISD. Prior to becoming an assistant principal, I taught English, served as department chair, and coached volleyball, basketball, and track. I graduated from the University of Houston-Downtown, where I obtained my Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and obtained my Master of Education in Administration from Lamar University. As a servant leader, I am committed to fostering an environment in which students and staff believe in their potential, are confident in their abilities, and strive for excellence.

Terrance J. Lawrence- Assistant Principal (LY-OR)
My name is Terrance J. Lawrence, and I am an Assistant Principal at Hastings High School. I have been a proud resident of the Greater Houston Area for more than 26 years, and this is my first year as Assistant Principal at Hastings. Before becoming an assistant principal, I taught Principles of Construction and several other CTE courses throughout my career. I have served as a mentor for countless at-risk students as well as teachers. I graduated from Texas Southern University, where I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Health Administration. I completed my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership at the University of St. Thomas. It is my goal to provide an exemplary education for all students in a safe environment. Jimmy Ocanas- Assistant Principal (OS-SAN)
My name is Jimmy Ocanas, and I am serving in my 13th year as an Assistant Principal at Hastings High School. I am currently in my 21st overall year of service to the Alief Independent School District. Prior to my time at Hastings High, I served at Youngblood Intermediate school for 8 years, where I taught Language Arts, Reading and Social Studies. I also served in roles as a Trailblazers Program instructor and Reading Interventionist. I graduated from the University of Houston-Downtown, where I obtained my Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. I also hold a Master of Education degree in Educational Administration from Concordia University Texas. I love the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the students that come to school every day.

Patrick McMillan- Assistant Principal (SANTOS-Z)
My name is Mr. Patrick McMillan, and I am an Assistant Principal at Hastings High School. I have been a proud member of the Alief and Hastings family for less than a year and a school leader for over 12 years. Before becoming an assistant principal, I taught Geometry and have served as curriculum specialist, discipline administrator, and instructional specialist in Broward County Public Schools. I graduated from Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University, where I obtained my Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. I am also an alum of Florida International University, where I obtained my MBA.
