School History
Petrosky Elementary opened its doors in 1980. Petrosky Elementary is named for Mr. Willard Lee Petrosky, a lifetime resident of the Alief community. Mr. Petrosky was actively involved in developing the fledgling Alief school district in the late 1940's. He was a school board member, involved in PTO, FHA and 4-H organizations. Mr. Petrosky was also an active member of the Lions Club, Alief Fire Department, and the Alief Community Church. Mr. Petrosky passed away in 2005.
Petrosky currently serves students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 4th Grade. Special programs at Petrosky include ESL services, special education services and gifted and talented. Classroom teachers, along with specialists in language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, ESL, technology, music, physical education and art provide a rich, well balanced foundation. Academic interventions are also provided to students identified as below grade level. The librarian, counselor, special education staff and paraprofessionals also work with students to provide the best possible education for each and every child.
