Campus History

Flem Rees Elementary School opened its doors to 650 students on August 20, 1984.  It was the thirteenth elementary school built in the Alief Independent School District.  


Rees was named to honor Mr. Flem Rees who was born on September 2, 1896 in Yoakum, Texas.  Mr. Rees and his family moved to Alief in 1925 where he served as an AISD Board of Education Trustee from 1934 to 1940.  Mr. Rees was inducted into the South Central Texas Semi-Pro Baseball Hall of Fame.


Rees currently services over 550 students from Pre-K through 4th Grade.  Special programs at Rees include Bilingual Education, ESL Services, Special Education Services, Gifted Education, and a Dual Language program from Kindergarten through 4th grade.
