About Dr. Newby:

My name is ​Dr. Sharonda Newby, and I am the 2024 - 2025 principal at Alief Middle School.  I have been a proud member of the Alief family for more than ​21 years and principal at Outley for over 8 years.  Before becoming a principal, I served in various other roles here in Alief. 

I graduated from ​Sam Houston State University, where I obtained my Bachelors degree in ​Criminal Justice.  I later went on to get a Masters in Sociology from the University of Houston at Clear Lake, Mid-Management degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from University of Houston - main campus.

I am committed to providing a safe and equitable learning environment where all children feel loved, respected, and encouraged to develop to their fullest potential.  I am looking forward to my journey as a Cub and working with my Alief Middle School team!
