Congratulations to this year's Teacher of the Year, Coach Mallori Kelley!
Coach Kelley has 14 years of Alief teaching experience. She started off as a Reading Interventionist, then a Title 1 Reading Teacher, and finally a Health and PE/Athletics teacher. Coach Kelley has earned her Bachelor's degree from Lamar University and her Master's degree from the University of St. Thomas! She has held many leadership roles throughout her educational career and is known to support her many students.
Please read the following message she has written to all stakeholders:
"Now more than ever, we need to rally together to continue to build and improve our community where our students and staff feel safe and appreciated. While creating programs to mitigate learning loss, it is also crucial that we establish initiatives and provide resources to alleviate the social and emotional learning plight. The pandemic in 2020 has disrupted valuable growth, and created a larger learning gap, not only academically but socially and emotionally. This has impacted students and adults. As a Health and Physical Education advocate, my message to the Alief community is to not only focus on academic learning and development, but to also take a closer look at our students social and emotional learning."
