Don P. Killough was born on August 9, 1937 in Heidenheimer, Texas. He is the third of six children in the family of Charlie and Norma Killough

Don began his teaching career in the Alvin Public Schools in 1959 where he taught mathematics in junior high school. In 1965 he came to Alief Junior-Senior High School, which was located on Seventh Street in the village of Alief.

Don resigned from the Alief District in 1975 after ten years of service in the community. The community responded by naming the district’s third middle school in his honor.

When asked how he felt about having a school named for him, he replied, “The feeling is very difficult to describe. Of course, very honored and humbled. But it means more in a different way. This action by the Board of Education will permanently support my allegiance and my personal feelings of appreciation toward the district and its people for ten wonderful years.”

Killough Middle School opened its doors for Alief students in August 1976.
