Celebrating Alief ISD's Fine Arts Educators: Grammy Educator Award Quarterfinalists

We are pleased to announce that two of our district's fine arts teachers have been named quarter finalists for the esteemed Grammy Educator Award. Jonathan McTier III, Head Choir Teacher at Hastings High School, expressed his gratitude, saying, "This honor would not happen if the students and administration at Hasting High School would allow me to guide them every day. I am trying to make a difference with our students and expose them to a future in college with the help of a choir scholarship."

The Director of Fine Arts shared his pride in our music educators, stating, "I am truly proud of the work our music educators are doing across Alief ISD. This recognition highlights what I am honored to support and see daily within our district, amazing educators. Our nominees are amazing educators and are some of the best in the business. I am truly proud to lead such talented and wonderful music educators like Mr. Sloan and Mr. McTier III and wish them continued success".

After 22 years serving Albright Middle School students, Tim Sloan reflects on his first time as Quarterfinalist "This is my 2nd year in a row to be a Quarterfinalist Grammy Nominee for Educator Award. I would be more than thrilled to actually win and have an opportunity to bring to the national spotlight many of the problems we face as music educators in Texas; especially, the issues that not only music teachers face but all fine arts and electives teachers."

These phenomenal educators truly represent the excellence within our fine arts department, and we congratulate them on this outstanding achievement. Their dedication to their craft and their students is commendable, and we are grateful to have such incredible talent in our district. We wish Mr. McTier III, Mr. Sloan, and all our fine arts educators continued success as they shape the future of our students through their passion for music and the arts.
