Jefferson Early Learning Center was one of 23 projects across the Houston-Galveston region that  were honored as models for best management practices in parks and natural areas at the Houston-Galveston Area Council’s annual Parks and Natural Areas Awards recognition ceremony. The event was held at H-GAC’s office on Friday, Feb. 9.

“We are excited to recognize creative and innovative parks and natural areas projects that not only implement best management practices in planning, policy, development, and programming, but also serve as models for new and future projects across the region,” said Justin Bower, Director of Community and Environmental Planning at H-GAC.

Winners were selected for recognition by panels of expert judges and industry professionals.

In addition to celebrating the Parks and Natural Areas honorees, attendees will also learn about equity in parks and natural areas planning from David Buggs, Director of Engagements and Inclusion for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

“H-GAC was pleased to welcome Mr. Buggs to help us celebrate the parks and natural areas receiving recognition and to offer insight on how to support more inclusive and equitable design and programming strategies for our region’s parks and natural areas,” said Bower.
