Alief ISD has a proud tradition of nurturing students who grow into successful professionals and community leaders. Many of these alumni return to the district out of loyalty and a desire to give back to the community that shaped them. The Alief Influencer Association exemplifies the impact these individuals can have when they unite to empower education and inspire others within Alief ISD.

The return of alumni strengthens the bond between the school district and the community. This cycle of giving back fosters a legacy of excellence, perseverance, and community engagement that spans generations. Memories of dedicated teachers, school events, and lasting friendships drive many alumni to return and invest in the next generation. Alumni bring invaluable experience, knowledge, and perspectives that can help shape the district’s future.

Leslie Viezca, an alumna of Elsik High School, Class of 2017 , fondly recalls her teachers as mentors who deeply cared about her success. Reflecting on her educational journey, Leslie shares, "My teachers, Coach Johnson and Coach Oha were more than just educators; they were mentors who believed in me and pushed me to achieve my goals."

Now a successful entrepreneur, Leslie has channeled that support into her own life and business. As the owner of Tropimix Refresqueria, a popular store located right across from the Alief ISD Administration Building, she has built a thriving business that serves as a local favorite.

In addition to her business success, Leslie is passionate about giving back to the community that helped shape her. She regularly speaks to students about the importance of perseverance and self-belief, hoping to inspire the next generation. "I want students to know that with hard work and determination, they can achieve anything they set their minds to," she says.

Leslie's commitment to Alief ISD goes beyond words. As a gesture of gratitude, she recently donated a birthday celebration for the Alief staff, bringing joy and appreciation to the educators who once supported her. Through her actions, Leslie Viezca continues to embody the values of perseverance, community, and giving back.

Henry Yau, an Alief Hastings High School alumnus, Class of 2000, has built an impressive career in media and public relations. From his role as Associate Producer at KRIV Fox 26 to his current position as Vice President of Public Relations and spokesperson for Children's Museum Houston, Henry credits much of his success to the lessons he learned in high school.

Reflecting on his time at Alief Hastings, Henry fondly remembers Ms. Maxey, a teacher who made a lasting impact on his life. "Ms. Maxey didn’t just teach me how to write—she gave me the tools to conquer my fear of it," Henry shares. "By showing me how essays are simply built, she demystified the process and made writing feel less daunting. Her lessons still guide me today, reminding me that with the right foundation, I can tackle any blank page. Her guidance remains a cornerstone of every sentence I craft, reminding me that clarity and structure are the foundations of powerful writing."

Today, as a key figure at Children's Museum Houston, Henry continues to make a difference in the community. Under his leadership, the museum has generously donated thousands of free family passes, offering Alief families the opportunity to experience America’s No. 1 Children’s Museum. Through his work, Henry Yau exemplifies how strong educational foundations and a commitment to giving back can lead to a fulfilling and impactful career.

Jeremy Hills, an Alief Elsik High School graduate, has made a lasting impact both on and off the football field. As a standout athlete during his time at Elsik, Jeremy's dedication and talent were evident, but it is his commitment to giving back to his community that truly sets him apart.

Recently, Jeremy made a significant contribution by donating over $150,000 in sports gear and incentives to Alief ISD. He also hosted a free football camp for Alief ISD students and the community, providing young athletes with invaluable training and mentorship. "It’s important for me to give back to the place that shaped me," Jeremy says. "I want these kids to know that they have support and that their dreams are within reach."

Jeremy's contributions exemplify the powerful influence alumni can have when they return to support the next generation. His actions serve as a reminder of the lasting impact that one person can make on a community, inspiring young athletes and students to strive for greatness in life.

As the Alief Influencer Association grows, its impact on the district will increase. By uniting alumni and empowering them to contribute to the educational experience of current students, the association helps create a brighter future for Alief ISD. Alumni who return to the district do so with pride and purpose, driven by a desire to give back. Their collective efforts ensure that the legacy of excellence in Alief ISD continues for generations to come.
