Research shows that family engagement has a positive effect on student success. In Alief, we believe that parents are partners with teachers and other staff in the education of their children and that family engagement and empowerment are essential at all levels throughout the school district. Parent participation in their children's schooling has positive impacts on the following: 

• Increases children's self-esteem

• Improves academic achievement

• Improves parent-child relationships

• Enhances positive attitudes towards school

Parents are required to attend at least two (2) activities per year and are encouraged to attend all available activities. Parents may also be asked to serve on the Family and Community Engagement Committee to help guarantee a setting that will reflect the needs of today’s families.
